General Gow (aka Mark Phelan) Offers Hot Rod Art on His Website
Phelan in Group Show "Tales of the Apocalypse" at Visions Gallery
Visions Gallery
133 Main St. Suite 100
Medway, MA 02053
According to the exhibition press, "This is the End… Tales of the Apocalypse. Eschatological stories are told in cultures around the world; the tales describe the conclusion of Ages or Civilizations, the termination of the World or the final moments of the Universe. Share your vision of the End!
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.
-Richard Bach
And I saw, and, look! a pale horse; and the one seated upon it had the name Death. And Hades was closely following him. And authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.
-Book of Revelations, New World Bible
What tidings are to be told of Ragnarok?
Thus says the Vala's Prophecy:
Brothers will fight together
And become each other's bane;
Sisters' children
Their sib shall spoil. (1)
Hard is the world,
Sensual sins grow huge.
There are ax-ages, sword-ages---
Shields are cleft in twain,---
There are wind-ages, wolf-ages,
Ere the world falls dead. (2)
The sun grows dark,
The earth sinks into the sea,
The bright stars
From heaven vanish;
Fire rages,
Heat blazes,
And high flames play
'Gainst heaven itself. (8)
-The Prose Edda, Snorri Sturluson- Anderson Translation
This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
-Excerpts from The Hollow Men, T.S. Elliot"

"Waves of Mu" Reviewed by Time Out New York Readers
Cheryl MyerSat, Oct 18, at 01:09pm
The Andrew Andrew video review (You Tube) was on the mark - Waves of Mu is the kind of show you can only get in NYC. This hard-to-describe but incredibly smart work is the perfect balance of learning and entertainment. Amy Caron captures the neuroscience by funneling it through her unique brand of multidisciplinary performance/visual art that is best described as an "experience." Whatever it is - you should go. You'll come to understand more about yourself and our interpersonal world.Cheryl MyerMon, Oct 13, at 03:30pm
Went to see Amy Caron's WAVES OF MU at PS 122 last night. This sold out show delivered in a big way. Caron's work is a much like a brain, it's messy and complicated in the best way. The work cleverly manages to teach you about neuroscience through experience. The installation is incredible - that alone it worth going to see, and Caron is a firecracker of a performer - a delight!

This installation/performance is a delight...and a total riot. Amy Caron makes neuroscience luscious with her jaw-dropping visuals and fun with her firecracker performance skills. This is a refreshing work that gives cutting-edge science the sass and spunk it lacks while also tapping into the profundity of this scientific frontier. Don't miss this little gem of a show.
Confoundingly brilliant!!!, October 07, 2008

Stumbled upon this show while filming a movie in Anchorage Alaska...and have traveled from Canada to NYC to experience it again...Amy Caron has blended art and science into a potent cocktail of visual and experiential bliss!! All I can say is...a show this cutting edge and inclusive comes along once in a lifetime!
